Passing the beautiful beach of Coldbackie, this short route twists between rock outcrops, bog, and old peat cuttings to the crofting settlement of Skerray with its small harbour and thatched post office and tiny museum.

The route continues past the magnificent beach of Torrisdale to Borgie Forest, the first managed forest in Scotland, adjacent to land donated to First World War veterans. Once a month the route extends partway down the long valley of Strathnaver, famous for salmon fishing and infamous for the Clearances.
